Corrina with her family.
When Corrina first moved to Adelaide from Victoria, she was looking for ways to make friends and build a support network, not just for herself but for her two children.
She heard about some locally run Junction programs and before long, her children were engaged in playgroup and after-school sessions.
A few years on and Corrina’s family has grown. She is now a single mum to four, including two year old twins, so the Christmas holidays can be a stressful and financially difficult time.
Thanks to generous donations through last year’s Christmas Appeal, Corrina’s family was among those who received a food hamper and support to celebrate Christmas.
While for many of us, Christmas is about having fun with our families and friends, this is not the case for all South Australians.
The pressures can make this time of year particularly tough for those experiencing financial hardship, families experiencing violence and those who are homeless or facing the prospect of sleeping rough.
Through Junction’s Christmas Appeal, you can add a little sparkle where it’s needed most.
It’s a Junction tradition to support families in need every year with food hampers. We understand the financial impact Christmas has on us all. Every donation makes a difference, no matter the amount.
We ask that any toy donations be left unopened and unwrapped with a simple label stating whether it’s for a boy or a girl and the age range. This way we can ensure caregivers select the perfect toy for each child.
Non-perishable food products like canned goods, dried goods, rolled grains, oats and cereals, dry or longlife milk, spreads, biscuits, chocolates and snacks help families beyond the Christmas Day celebrations.
