December 06, 2017
On Tuesday the 5th of December, six young women aged 15 to 20 years of age, who are supported by Junction Australia, got a special treat when celebrity makeup artist, Anthony Adams, paid a visit to run a makeup and haircare lesson. While the girls were apprehensive at first, they soon began listening intently and getting involved in learning to correctly apply their makeup in a way that would be suitable for every day, attending a job interview or housing application and finally for a special ‘glam’ look!
Anthony was wonderful teaching the young women his tips and tricks, and with 10 years at Chanel behind him, it is safe to say Anthony’s lesson was one the girls will never forget. Anthony also brought with him special gift packs for the girls, complete with their own brand new makeup to complete a full face, plus special prizes for those who were attentive, creative and engaged. The young women were soon practising the makeup on themselves and their new friends, taking many ‘selfies’, and having their hair done – overall very much enjoying this special day.
The young women who participated came to Junction Australia through our homelessness outreach service, and had all faced homelessness. Three of these young women are now living in our transitional properties, and three are still living in our emergency accommodation (Junction House).
Thank you to Anthony Adams for reaching out to us to do something a little different, to those who donated the gifts, and of course to the young women who participated and had a great day, learning tips they will remember forever!
One young lady stated “this is just like Christmas and this is the best Christmas I have ever had."
