Client Testimonials & Stories

“KICC (Kangaroo Island Community Centre) is very important to the Island because it’s a place that people can get help, meet other people and to learn. I first visited the centre to use a computer as I had to print out a form. The staff were friendly and as I needed help they suggested I join a weekly computer class they were running. I really enjoyed the class as I got to meet other people and I have now bought myself a computer. I really enjoy my time at the community centre and now I help out in the community garden” – Robert.

"Junction/OSYHS helped me out so much in one of the most difficult times of my life; the loss of my daughter. Not only did they provide me with emotional support, they linked me in to additional services, and made my transfer of my THP property to be the most easy and stress-free task. This allowed me to grieve in my own time. Thank you OSYHS/Junction” - LR.

“I just can’t believe it, with a smile from ear to ear. I was raised in public housing and we never had to move, mum could do what she wanted there and we treated it like it was our home forever and it was! After being in a transitional house and knowing we would have to move, we were worried about when and where? Then I was offered a community housing home from Junction and we can make it ours forever. I can settle the kids in to kindy and meet new friends knowing I won’t have to move. The house is beautiful and it has a big back yard for the kids to play in. I just can’t believe we have been so lucky”. - Jane, 24 yo Mum with three children.

“I would like to thank you for the help and support you have given me and my children at a very tough and challenging time. Without your help my children may not have had a home to come back to when they were born” - Fiona

“Staff at the house are doing a fantastic job of being consistent and accepting of these youths. Talking to the House Supervisor the last few weeks shows such a dedicated team who genuinely care which is really the only protective factor I can see in place for the young person at this time” - External Social Worker

“Through the PoE program (Point of Engagement), I feel I have developed a bond with my baby. She knows when I walk in the door and she looks my way. Lots of eye gazing as she loves to stare at me.” - Wendy

“Being at Junction House was one of the best experiences I have ever been through. I learnt so many new things, grown as a person and gained some confidence. Thank you for showing me self-worth and being role models.” - Melissa
