Exceptional Needs Program

The Exceptional Needs program provides intensive outreach supports to clients with multiple high and complex needs.  Many clients have a dual diagnosis including psychiatric and other disabilities, alcohol and other drug issues and homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Because of the client’s complex needs, they may not readily be able to access mainstream supports. Contact is maintained with clients through their most challenging behaviours.

 Principles:

  • High quality services and Social inclusion based on a client centred approach to needs.
  • Early identification of client’s needs and the provision of appropriate interventions to assist clients in maintaining and improving their quality of life
  • Harm minimisation and managing client behaviours
  • Referral, linkages and advocacy
  • Gaining independent living skills
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Being respectful in all interactions.
